08/17/2012 (People Port) The dead Egyptian border guards may help Hamas with Egypt, Israel, and the Palestinian Authority. Looks like Sinai's extremists were mostly criminals. The United States is ready to help Egypt's President Morsi and the military as they continue to work to prevent extremists, criminals, from operating in the Sinai.
The old PLO split into Hamas and the recognised Palestinian Authority. Each control land. Both are unwilling to force Israel to negotiate a peace. Many see Israel's starting bargaining position (renouncing violence, Israels right to exist in peace... See also Jerusalem) as very low hurdles for any nation wanting independence. People do get rich in war, though they may not eat their transportation.
Hamas's media campaign, in the sardine can known as Gaza, trumpets their accomplishments (They started fixing society's potholes). A good start. Gaza needs all types of help. The Palestinian Authority looks like a government ready for an independent statehood. Do not see how this can happen without Hamas.
Could not find their governments seeking ethical transformation, however, both claim they seek a peace. Jordan has once again become an option for peace. Magenta paint , Gaza's media colors, cannot be seen as liberating in this light. To that point, Gaza leaders would have built the infrastructure to flourish within their constraints. Had Palestine leaders -ever- wanted a real nation ( A UN solution's map...), long ago, they would have built the foundation of the Palestinian nation. Instead today we have Israel's blockade, smuggler's tunnels, making nation building almost impossible.
Both Hamas and the Palestinian Authority want the world's respect. Little people everywhere cheered President Mahmoud Abbas attempts within the United Nations. Israel should be both governments biggest ally in that quest. Criminals cannot grow strawberries, build power or desalination plants.
Entrepreneurs across the Middle East are working on solar. Egypt's new President will get all the help he wants to tame the Sinai. Will Egypt and the Palestinian people seek help in modernization or follow Lebanon's path back a thousand years to clanism... Their choice will decide that region's future: war and pestilence, peace and real employment...
