01/11/11 (People Port) There seems to be a genuine relief -so many- people rose to challenge a gunman in the middle of his massacre. Quite the norm. Most involved within real political debate, show themselves when circumstances demand action.
Those heroes at Congress On Your Corner, said they did not think -it seemed like the right choice- at the time. No, not a death-wish. It is part of what makes them people. Their problem at the time, He had so many bullets. He was well trained. The terrorist shot people from both parties. He did not care. He wanted to inflect the most harm he could.
Many, as events unfolded, worried about other attacks. Planned or copycats, worry is needed so more people do not have to take that stand. Our heroes in Congress have shown disdain for personal protection in the past. Speakers have had to be cajoled into accepting security, at times. There is a real reluctance of our elected leaders to call for a ban on guns at political events. Give them time. They need all the votes they can get.
