Washington Plans To Be Stormy The Next Two Years

by J John Swanko

11/23/10 (People Port)
There are more reports than you can read on newly elected Constitutionalists planning to trim back, shut down, parts -even all of government. Oh what fun it will be. Despite various leadership stating the contrary, Expect a government shutdown at the very least. Those that depend on government, local, state, or federal, will have many problems.

This is a political fight. During a downturn -suddenly- our Capitols, City Halls, see a heightened importance. Most have forgot, never learned, why. Before Bear Stearns -weeks- many on Wall Street were urging Washington to stay out. After Bear Stearns, that almost died down. You may remember what the market did when TARP did not pass the House. Government fully involved.

You could make fun of Tea Party Republican talkers all day. Democrats have the TSA. The TSA is apparently afraid of dogs, using questionnaires for people in line -out of the question. Both parties will get plenty of headlines. You and I may chuckle at those headlines, however, this will create hardening of positions, goals. Their goals will keep moving. Listen to the rhetoric on extending the Bush tax cuts. When Dems agree, the terms change, when they balk... At least we are back to a two party systems again.

You may want to budget for the havoc that will come out of these battles. A huge portion of States have targeted the poor, elderly, education for cuts. To the extent you are able, pick an area -most firms already have a foundation- your help may make the difference.

For those exporting firms, your work will become harder. For those with a serious export program, pointing out, "America was created as an experiment and we are still experimenting." Maybe, "This is just Congress beating their chest," may get you by.

The good news, few laws will get passed. The Obama Administration will flex its muscles. The new mayors, governors, Representatives, Senators, will do...
