11/09/10 (People Port) From the deluge of press reports, the Tea Party members of Congress plan to shut down government. They claim they won that right in this election. First thing is ending earmarks, it should be getting America back to work. Congress can pass a tax extension. Pass the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform's report. Strip Obama Care of the Big Government runs your business -1099 provision. Take Secretary Gate's Advice on Defense spending. Even then, may not sway the Tea Party. They want every incumbent -out.
Unemployment this high is very hard to solve. Congress may want to ask those recent Nobel Laureate in economics for advice. They won showing how hard that can be. John Boehner has pledged to work at it. Two Senators have gained the ire of many on both sides of the isle, DeMint, and Coburn. They spoke out early in favor of stopping pork, and the Tea Party's rights.
It may be they are planning to force Obama and Republicans to negotiate. There are some claiming to be the new Tea Party leaders. Those that stood up this party, seem to be very candid. They have no intention of shutting down government, repealing Social Security...
Lots of people donated to this Congress's election. Some spent millions. Look at the outcomes, those with few qualifications, limited spending won. Few ultra rich won the right to serve the people. If the press reports are accurate, at least on race was won on less money than was spent in thirty years, in what use to be a Blue State.
What is the most important here, The United States Cannot look poor or weak. Someone will attack, throw resources against our fighting heros, or simply make trouble. Just so you know, You may want to visit our Commerce Department's BEA. Our deficit was not 1.4 trillion last year. If you do not notice it, We are only in the deep deficit area because we have so many unemployed, underemployed. Those costs leave while incomes return. Yes, our GDP is now higher than the start of this Great Recession, however, without unemployment dropping below six percent, we cannot expand demand enough to return to employment levels of 2007.
As for those condemning cuts in Defense, It is Secretary Gates pushing the big restructuring, making Defense more efficient and saving a bundle...
