06/08/10 (People Port) The Prince of Wales has a persistent chest infection. Many suggest he drink Florida Orange Juice. This article grew from an update to NCCAM webpage. It suggest antioxidants (e.g, Florida Orange Juice) may not be much of a help.
Long time People Port readers know, I would respectfully disagree. I used the Prince's infection to look a little closer. First, He is keeping some of his appointments. This would include his lecture at Oxford Center For Islamic Studies. He is celebrating the Center's 25th anniversary. The orange juice home remedy has been around since scurvy.
As the FDA pointed out, using zinc medicines may limit your sense of smell. I always recommend you keep your doctor informed. Our scientists seemed to be on track to solve many health issues with supplements and some show promise in mice that does not seem to pass on to people. One example is N-acetylcysteine (NAC). Stops addiction, even cocaine in mice. Many people swear by it -yet- It by itself, even large doses does not seem to always work.
I looked for recent immune studies using NAC, no luck. Sorry your Majesty, get some sleep. I did find a great study. Leave it to NIAD's Rocky Mountain Lab, They, with great collaboration in academia, private industry developed a therapeutic that works by stimulating the body's immune system.
Antibiotics work by attacking invading bacteria, very selective. Stimulate the immune system, a person's body will have broad protection. It seems to have worked well. They had a private drug company in on this study. In practice, it may be able to defeat a bio-terrorism attack.
