Are Christians Being Eliminated From The Holy Lands

by J John Swanko

The conflict between Christianity and the Muslim world continues. The Pope on his recent visit to Cyprus begged for the chance of ancient Churches to live in peace. In Turkey, laws designed to keep religion out of politics are used to suppress Christianity.

Christians being slaughtered by Muslims is not a new trend. Today, some governments are better at stopping it than others. Cyprus is very much a part of the Holy Land. Churches there, even the Orthodox Churches in Turkey itself are under real threat. From press reports, even Iran can teach other Muslim nations how to better treat its religious minorities. Some living in Iran, point to Iran's past as the birthplace of an organized religion, Zoroastrian. Sure, the Iranian religious rhetoric is real. This creates an air of distrust seen by the rest of the world, even though most Iranians respect others religious enclaves. In past articles I have credited Darius with Iran's willingness to tolerate religion.

Jerusalem is the Capitol of the Holy Land. A great reason to make it an international city. That was then. Christianity never gave the establishment of Israel a second thought. It solved so many problems. Christians are not welcomed in that hot bed today. Gaza, hosts so few, Is it even worth mentioning. The recent White House, Engaging Religious Communities Abroad, is a start.

Many see the rise in fundamentalism as a way to suppress women. As the Pope points out the lands that Christ walked should be the most peaceful.

Note:

Iran's frequent rhetoric denouncing this religion and that one, while on the ground there, Stoning for those practicing the old religion was banned according to reports. Iran is fighting a resurgence in Zoroastrianism. The practice of stoning itself is on the way to being banned in most of the Muslim world. Contradictions are worth noting.

I am publishing here due to technical difficulties.
