People Port Editorial: Reconfirm Mr. Bernanke

Idling Mr. Bernanke is not a good idea: He is our best resource on this Great Recession. Expert in the Great Depression, When he saw the edge, he and his team worked around the clock to stop it.

We are not out of this mess, yet. This melt down affects the whole world. As those argued more than 75 years ago, they use the same arguments today. We need to return to the gold standard. End the Fed. We cannot afford Social Security. We cannot export or import. We do not need the rest of the world, better to go it alone.

He did missed the total credit freeze. Some argue he could have been much more forceful in pointing out the housing bubble. He could have pointed out, not all people can handle a home. Would he have been fired for making those arguments, yes. Who would have stopped US from going over the edge.

The world is more interconnected today. President Obama has asked that he be reconfirmed, he needs him. Please reconfirm Ben Bernanke.
