People Port Editorial: Obama Brings Home The Gold

by J John Swanko

Out in rural America, Our President winning the Nobel Prise is very cool. Some are wrong to complain, "He does not deserve it." I and the Nobel Committee disagree.

"For 108 years, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has sought to stimulate precisely that international policy and those attitudes for which Obama is now the world's leading spokesman. The Committee endorses Obama's appeal that 'Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges.'" the Norwegian Nobel Committee on 9 October 2009, in their press release.

His global leader engagements have yielded miracles. One example is Russia. By asking Russia to hit the reset button on diplomacy between the two world powers, President Obama has obtained agreement, and talks, for the elimination on nuclear arms (see note below). In that process, Russia has agreed to provide its trains for the supply of our peace keepers in Afghanistan. At stake is protection for both Countries. Those terrorists, have hit both nations, however, Russians have an even lower tolerance for Afghanistan than we would have for Vietnam. Russian leaders proved they can be Statesmen.

His work with China is no less remarkable. If you have followed this very young administration, you are aware of their reliance on diplomacy. They rely on world leaders everywhere, seeking, coaxing, every one's input and commitment.

The United States is using its vast resources, memberships, to encourage peace around the world. This willingness prompted Libya's leader to complain about the terrorists trying to again attack on our shores. He asked, why New York? Why now? Comparing the UN to Mecca, the Vatican.

President Obama rooting for America tried to bring home the Olympics. He used that failure to teach US a sport's lesson. Parents everywhere now have a great story for their children. With this Administrations commitment to making peace, He gives our children a safer tomorrow.

Note:

Many argue Russia got the better bargain: no missile's next door and a chance to look good on the world stage in the Mid-East. I would remind the world, Russia has had a diplomatic hand in the Mid-East for more than 100 years. We can use their help and as we all now know, They are getting involved.
