People Port Editorial: Americans For Prosperity Are Flexing Their Power

10/06/09 Americans For Prosperity are flexing their power. They are not aligned officially with any political party. They plan on defeating the Democrats in the Governor's races in Virgina and New Jersey. They know the races are close. They see themselves as the equivalent of MoveOn.org. They see them surpassing their rival this November.

They, from nowhere, stopped a California tax initiative a few years back. That tax stream, could have allowed California to reorganize their State's Priorities during this horrible recession. They do not recognize the harm they cause.

They have every right to organize these media events. They are proud of their wins. They should be: They have been taking on the Media for years, laughing at the ease. Fox News is often pointed to as their media outlet. That is nowhere near the truth. All media jumped on their antics these last months. Without that airtime, those crowds that a Fox producer pumped would have been much smaller.

The Americans For Prosperity's leaders need to point their volunteers in the right direction. All their literature needs to be marked as, their version. Rules governing behavior and how to keep all safe must take a front seat. Speaker Pelosi recently complain that the events she was seeing, were eerily similar to those that lead to the shooting of two people. Giving voice to the disenfranchise should be commended. A voice, is not a license to kill.
